  North Mississauga Panthers History

1993 NMSC Panthers

2008 was a rough year for this team with Dave Chali moving to be the Technical Head Coach of the club, a Coach of equal caliber was sought by the club. 3 such talented coaches were found and left due to different commitments. As a result the Team was unstable and found it hard pressed to stay focused even with the constant assistant from Coach Jhon Adila & Zarko Mijic (the 1993 Elite Team Coach). At the end of the 2008 season with instability in the clubhouse growing and the departure of Dave Chali most Team players looked for greener pastures elsewhere. Few die hard believers stayed back giving North Mississauga a chance to rebuild and produce a new Head Coach for the Team.

In early 2009 North Mississauga Club decided to promote Zarko Mijic to the position of head Coach for the Team. Zarko worked his current Elite Team to the bone to bring them up to standard, pressured to put up a Team and with players still trying out for Toronto FC. His options were few. He selected some of the talent from his Elite Team and selected talented players that came to try out with the Team.

With a positive attitude we embark on our journey for 2009. The team’s and Club’s strong commitment to local players always means to restrict the number of imported players that could be added to the team in order to encourage development of our youth. For development is the future of Canadian soccer!

The North Mississauga Panthers (formerly Red Devils) were formed in the summer of 2002. It comprised of a local group of U9 boys born in 1993, from the Mississauga area. Blessed from the start with an enormous amount of individual talent, the team experienced immediate successes. The team quickly earned a reputation as one of the top teams in the Province because of a combination of exciting style of play and a long list of good performances in championships. Lead by a core group of original members, the Panthers continued to succeed for 3 years.

Prior to the 2005 season, all the local teams in this age group, including the Panthers, had experienced some changes in the roster. Doubts emerged amongst their peers as to whether the Panthers would still be able to compete. The North Mississauga Soccer Club headed by the Technical Director Darren Tilley stepped in to provide both training and support during this transition time, thus paving the way for the future of this group of talented boys. With the insertion of a new coach Dave Chali by 2005 spring’s end, the team was on its way to a promising future. Since the winter of 2004/05 the Club has provided an environment for the boys to learn the game the right way, through character, commitment and hard work. This concept has provided a challenging yet enjoyable atmosphere thus producing not just quality players, but well-balanced young men.
